2 SESSIONS / MONTH

Mentoring for technologists moving into leadership.

Two sessions a month, by video, for engineers, architects and technical leads taking on leadership, commercial responsibility and broader decisions.

01 — Who it’s for

For the move from making it work to owning the outcome.

01Engineers and architects who have just been asked to lead the team they used to be part of.
02Technical leads being pulled into pricing, proposals and customer conversations.
03Delivery and operations managers moving towards general management.
04Consultants who want to understand the commercial side of what they deliver.
02 — Typical situations

What usually comes up.

Each seat changed what I notice. Mentoring is mostly about getting to the next seat without losing the last one.

i.

Engineer

Will the system work?

Linux, VMware, infrastructure. Making it work — and learning that systems fail at 3am, not in meetings.

vi.

Commercial

What did we price, promise and contract?

Proposals, pricing, contracts, partners. Pricing is an architecture decision made elsewhere.

viii.

Executive

Who owns the outcome when things stop lining up?

Accountable when none of it lines up — and expected to know why.

I priced the work, and delivery says it can’t be done.
I’ve been handed a customer relationship I didn’t build.
My team is busy, but nothing is moving.
Meetings happen. Decisions stay open.
03 — What you get

Practical, not motivational.

TWO SESSIONS

Two 60-minute sessions a month, working on whatever is live for you, plus email questions between sessions answered within two working days.

THE COMMERCIAL SIDE

Pricing, proposals, margins and what a contract actually commits you to, from someone who has been accountable for all of them.

THE PEOPLE SIDE

Leading a team, handling escalation, managing up, and making decisions without complete information.

THE HABIT

The questions I start with: What is actually happening? Who owns the decision? What happens if we do nothing?

05 — How booking works

How booking works.

01

Start. Email me a few lines about your role and what you want to work on. We’ll start with a free 30-minute intro call to check it’s a good fit for both of us.

02

Fit check. I reply to confirm whether I’m the right person and suggest next steps, usually within two working days. If I’m not, I’ll say so.

03

In writing. Scope, timing and commercial terms are confirmed in writing. Payment is made in advance, and the booking is confirmed once it’s received.

04

Start. You send context or material beforehand, and we begin by video — you’ll receive a video call link with your confirmation.

06 — Questions

Questions about the mentoring.

Who is mentoring for?

Technologists moving into leadership: engineers, architects, technical leads, and delivery or operations managers taking on commercial and people responsibility.

Is there an introductory call?

Yes. Mentoring starts with a free 30-minute intro call to check it’s a good fit for both of us, before anything is booked or billed.

Can my employer pay for it?

Yes. Mentoring is usually paid for directly by the person taking part, and it can also be paid for by an employer. Either way, billing is monthly, in advance.

Is this coaching?

It’s mentoring. I share how I’d approach the situation, having sat in most of those seats myself. It isn’t therapy or certified career coaching.
